Bloody Summer - Details

True Blood
The new season starts Sunday, June 13th! And if you want to refresh your memory on all the crazy shiz that went down in Season 2 the DVDs will be available May 25th. You can pre-order from Amazon here. Also to be released May 25th is the 2nd volume of the Official True Blood Soundtrack also available for pre-order here.

The Vampire Diaries and Moonlight on The CW
The Vampire Diaries will start their encore run of Season 1 starting May 27th (thank gawd!!) and the very next week it will be followed by reruns of Moonlight (which was canceled in 2008 by CBS). There are 22 episodes of The Vampire Diaries and only 16 of Moonlight so we'll have to see how they work that out.

Eclipse
Needless to say there is a TON going on surrounding the release of Eclipse on June 30th. Here is a breakdown:

May 20th - Muse debuts their video for the first single off of the Eclipse soundtrack on MTV

June 5th - Release of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella by Stephenie Meyer (pre-order here)

June 8th - The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Soundtrack available for purchase.

New Series: The Gates
Starting June 20th ABC will be showing a new vampire series called The Gates. It looks like it could be fun even though the vamps don't initially appear to be as sexy as those I've become accustomed to (see Angel, The Vampire Diaries, The Twilight Saga). However, star Rhona Mitra has played a vampire before on Underworld: Rise of the Lycans so at least she has earned her fangs.  Check out their site here for more info.

Bloody Summer

I suppose it's only fitting that my last summer as a single girl should be filled with the Vampires I love the most. While I will do my best to get some sun - there are SO many bloody reasons to stay pale this year!!!

Eclipse
Let's all stop pretending that we haven't been waiting for this movie since the end of  New Moon back in November. We're not fooling anyone. And now FINALLY a director (Bill Condon) and release date (11.18.11) have been set for Breaking Dawn. I'm sure I'm not the only one just a little excited about this. However - back to June. New promo photos are making their way across the web and they are doing nothing to make me less excited. Just saying.

Moonlight
The CW has announced that it will be airing the now defunct Moonlight (staring hottie Alex O'Loughlin and the gorgeous Underworld beauty Sophia Myles) alongside repeats of their Best New Drama - The Vampire Diaries (see below). This amazing vampire show missed its built in fandom by a couple of months. I would love to see how this fantastically written and acted show would fare in today's Vampire loving culture.  I hope that those who didn't watch it the first time around take advantage and set their Tivos. This is one that should not be missed the 2nd time around.

The Vampire Diaries
If ever there was an excuse to not watch this show ("I hate to start in the middle.") you've lost it. The CW will be replaying the entire first season over the summer and I for one cannot wait to watch from the beginning (not gonna lie - I pretty much do this every time it rains more than 2 hours). Make a date, set the DVR, what ever you need to do - just do not miss a second of the best new show on TV this year. I hate to make promises but I PROMISE you will love this.

True Blood
I'm not even sure where to start with this one. The season is too short (13 episodes compared to the network 22). I've read the books but I always love to guess what or whom the show will follow. And follow or not, HBO and Alan Ball have managed to create a show that is shocking, scary and sexy as hell. Get it. Find it. Watch it. This show is to DIE for.

Angel
This one goes without saying. If you have never watched just wait until it rotates through. TNT shows 2 episodes every day. Of all the vampire shows I love to watch again and again - this one is my very favorite. Make the time for this show. Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) shows off why he is such a genius with this one. Take a chance. Live it. Learn it. Love it.

I Know What You Are

My favorite new show this year - by a mile - is Kevin Williamson's Vampire Diaries. It has everything a girl like me is looking for. Hot guys, great romance, amazing music and best yet - total escapism. After this week's episode, it looks like Elena has figured out what Stefan is. But that is not the end. Not even close. Here are my other favorite "in the know” couples. Some of them make it. Some of them don't. Some of them are left to our own imaginations.


5. Blood Ties – Vicki & Henry = Things are getting a bit wiggy for P.I. Vicki until hottie Henry shows up. Is he a suspect or the best crime solving partner she has ever had? He can, of course smell the blood left behind. She is convinced that the supernatural happens. Can she be convinced that Henry has feelings for her?

4. Twilight – Bella &Edward = Bella was sure of Edward even before she knew what he was. She knew he was something else. But, to her, it did not matter what the “else” was. She was in from the word go. No talk of fangs or blood or undead was going to keep her from what she wanted most.

3. Moonlight – Beth & Mick = The P.I. Mick has learned to mesh with the humans as best he can. He keeps his blood in the fridge and minds his own business. Until Beth captures his attention – and his heart. Now he has to protect her. From the truth and from himself. She doesn’t want to care what he is. But, maybe they both care just enough to make their love impossible.

2. True Blood – Sookie & Bill = She knew what he was from the get go. And that made her all the more attracted to him. His world provided a peace she had never known. Except that his world proved to be anything but peaceful. Regardless of being used and abused, Sookie will stand by Bill. No matter what his world does to her.

1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel – Buffy & Angel = Their story is so tragic it should be written in old English. A human girl chosen from millions to be the ONE to slay the demons. The ONE demon of millions cursed with a soul. And the two meet. And fall in love. The love created will never be matched nor will it ever be fully realized. And that is the true tragedy.
