As the 7th Month Dies

On TV This Weekend:
It's a big supernatural weekend with new episodes of Being Human, Merlin and True Blood. The following synopses were provided by TV.Com
Being Human = Episode 2:
Mitchell decides to invite the neighbours around for some tea and chat to try and make them feel like they a part of the community and to feel human. George gets a visit from a werewolf named Tully who tries to be the friend that George has always wanted until he makes a confession about his real reasons for finding George. Meanwhile Mitchell resists his urges for blood and Herrick discovers where they live.
Merlin = Excalibur: Uther's past comes back to haunt him as a mysterious black knight interrupts Arthur's coming-of-age celebrations, throwing down his gauntlet and challenging the Knights of Camelot to combat. The Black Knight, seemingly unstoppable, makes easy work of his combatants. But who is the Black Knight, and why is Uther so uneasy?
True Blood = Release Me: Sam finds himself in an unenviable predicament at the hands of Maryann and her minions. Hugo is imprisoned with Sookie who tries to communicate with Barry using her telepathic powers. Bill is held captive by the the stubborn Lorena. Jason attempts to sever his ties with the Fellowship of the Sun, but faces resistance from Steve and his enforcer Gabe.

SYTYCD Recap:
This Week I have a guest blogger as my cable company and/or Tivo decided not to play nice. Take it away Bird!

Opening Dance: Send in the Clowns. Once again the opening number was amazing. The dance choreographed by Tyce Diorio was splendid, and he has become one of my favorite choreographers. The Harlequins Clown Costumes were beautiful, and the face painting was perfect (the face that Jeanine makes will break your heart). The skill of these six dancers is some of the best this show has had. The lineup for "guest" dancers this week was insane (better then the 100th), starting with Will and Jessica performing "Silence". This dance is stunning in its power and control. Next it was time to find out which of the girls are in the bottom 2. All 3 of these dancers are outstanding, but after a quick recap from last night Cat told Jeanine that she was safe. This leaves Kayla and Melissa in the bottom 2. So the next great dance was Twitch and Katee performing "Mercy” and I think it was better this go round. A stand out from last season (and maybe from this season too). Jabberwocky, of MTV's best dance crew preformed and it was good. Of course I haven't seen them do a bad show! Next Cat brought the boys on stage, and after the recap Brandon was safe. This leaves Ade and Evan in the bottom 2, not a big surprise. Melissa and Ade both preformed their solos and both were just as good as last night. Then one of the best dances ever, Bleeding Love with Mark and Chelsie, and this dance just gets better and better. This was a great treat. Kayla and Evan were up next and both proved how much talent they have. The guest performance was from Sean Paul (and that's all I got as I was easily distracted by mini-buttons). So it comes down to who goes home...tonight Melissa was eliminated, this was both sad and not surprising. I will miss the naughty ballerina; she was one of my favorites of the entire season. But this means that Kayla (Colorado girl) is in the finale and that does make me happy. Then it was Ade and Evan turn, and to my shock Ade was eliminated. While Evan is an amazing dancer, Ade I felt was the better of the 2. This may have been one of the biggest shocks of the year. Next week should be a great finale, and who knows maybe another shock will happen. But I will make my prediction and say the top 2 dancers will be Brandon and Kayla.

A BIG HUGE THANKS to Bird for her amazing notes. They make me even more pissed for missing it but grateful all the same. There is no way it was Ade's time to go and how the hell is Evan still on this show? Also, I can't believe I missed Mark and Chelsie. One of the best dances I have ever seen on all 5 seasons. Oh well! On to next week's finale. Who do you like for the win?

MJ Commercial = This Has To Be A Joke:
When I first saw this commercial last night I thought for sure I had accidentally turned on Mad TV or something. I mean, the stuff with the roses? I have a great vintage Vogue cover hanging in my bedroom and I am always taking roses out of the vase to hold up against it. As I have said before, I'm sorry that the man is dead but this stuff is getting out of hand. This commercial is a parody of itself. Be sure to purchase soon or you too may run out of art work to hold flowers against. Has to be a joke right?

Song of the Week:
My favorite song this week is by The Killers, called Goodnight, Travel Well. When I was looking for the video on YouTube I discovered a project The Killers are doing with UNICEF in order to highlight the danger and impact of human trafficking. It's a great cause so be sure to check out the video below and visit http://www.unicef.org/infobycountry/uk_50248.html for more information.

And Then There Were 6

SYTYCD Recap:
Only one more week after this. I can't believe how fast it's gone. The guys' opening routine was very entertaining. The judges all praised Evan's performance but he did not seem as strong to me as the other 2. Jeanine and Ade's samba was wicked hot and a much better start than we got last week. I thought Mary was a bit harsh but what do I know about the steps? For the 2nd week in a row, I was very impressed with Kayla's solo. She is a stunning dancer. Evan and Melissa were cute in their Broadway routing but for me, it was nothing to write home about. I LOVED Ade's solo but I can't figure out if it's because the solo was good or if it was because he danced it to a great song by one of my favorite bands (18th Floor Balcony by Blue October). Brandon and Kayla had by far my favorite dance of the first half. It was really beautiful. Melissa's solo was nice but I wasn't screaming about it. Jeanine and Ade's hip-hop was a lot of fun and they seemed to be together through the whole thing. Brandon's solo was excellent and OMG so is his body. Wow. However, it would not have hurt my feelings if he would have worn pants. The quickstep is one of my least favorite styles of dancing they do on this show but Melissa and Evan's wasn't the worst I've seen. Jeanine had my 2nd favorite solo of the night (after Kayla). She is such a power house! On the other hand, I am about ready for Evan to go home. He just has not been one of my favorites throughout the entire season. Kayla and Brandon's disco was amazing. They were so in sync and it was so fast. And Nigel's reaction was hilarious! The 2 of them had both of my favorite dances of the night. The girls' superhero dance was awesome and again I thought it was more entertaining than the guys. Who's going home? I think it's time for Evan to hit the road and although Melissa is a beautiful dancer, it might be the end of the ride for her tonight as well. Only 3 episodes left!

Twilight News = Victoria Recast:
There were reports all over the internet yesterday that Summit Entertainment had decided to recast the role of bad girl vamp Victoria for the 3rd Twilight movie, Eclipse, due out next summer. According to reports the recast was made due to scheduling conflicts with Rachelle Lefevre who plays Victoria in the first 2 Twilight films. EW.com has Rachelle's reaction to the recast (it's not good) which you can read here: http://news-briefs.ew.com/2009/07/29/twilight-rachelle-lefevre-stunned-by-summits-recast-of-victoria-for-eclipse/. In the 3rd installment Victoria will be played by Bryce Dallas Howard from Terminator Salvation. While the news is upsetting, you have to appreciate the speed at which Summit is cranking out the movies. Hopefully Howard can live up to the great standard set by Lefevre.

Blood Ties Season 1 = The Jury is In:
I finished watching Blood Ties season 1 on DVD this morning and as promised I have notes. The series is about female PI/former cop, Victoria Nelson, who finds herself investigating the supernatural side of crime. She is assisted by 500 year old vampire Henry Fitzroy, the bastard son of Henry the VIII, and her former cop partner and love interest Mike Celluci. The love triangle created by the trio has good chemistry but not a whole lot of physical substance. Despite the fact that there were times where the dialogue was laughable and the acting even worse, I couldn't stop watching. It's not as laugh out loud funny as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the love story isn't as compelling as that in Moonlight and while the vampire (played by Kyle Schmid) is quite hot, he's not in the same vicinity as the beautiful Angel (played by David Boreanaz). And still, I was very entertained. The second and final season is due to be released on October 6th and I am excited to see how it all ends. While it's not a bad purchase, I do recommend trying it out first on Netflix if you can.

Welcome to the Dollhouse

On Sale Now:
The first season of Joss Whedon's new super show Dollhouse hits stores today. The DVD release will include the never aired 13th episode and tons of other special features. You can view the list and order the DVD here: http://www.amazon.com/Dollhouse-Season-One-Eliza-Dushku/dp/B0024FAR66/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1248756013&sr=8-1

Angel Lives Again!:
Joss and Eliza made an appearance at Comic-Con over the weekend and discussed exciting new casting prospects including additional Angel alumni. Amy Acker, previously Fred on Angel, and a regular on the first season of Dollhouse, has been slated for only 3 episodes of Dollhouse season 2 due to her new series, Happy Town. However, it looks like Joss is looking to cast some other familiar faces including Summer Glau who appeared in his short-lived series Firefly as well as a 3rd season episode of Angel called Waiting in The Wings (she played the ballerina stuck in time). However, the most exciting news (for me anyways) was the promised casting of Alexis Denisof (a.k.a. Wesley Wyndam-Pryce).

Rogue Demon Hunter:
During their tenure on Buffy and Angel, Faith (Eliza Dushku) and Wesley (Alexis Denisof) had such a huge impact on each other's characters that neither would have ever been the same with out the other. Their interaction became one of the series's most revealing and dynamic relationships. Just the thought of seeing them on screen together again can only be described as AMAZING! This casting decision alone has me counting down the days until Dollhouse is back on the air. Michael Ausiello has some great interview footage in case you (like me) can't wait.

Day of the Dead

True Blood Recap:
Well, I finally know what the title of last night's episode was all about. It was the name of the song Bill was playing and singing back in the 1920's when he was still with his sire. I already hate Lorena and want her to go away. That love making scene in the pool of blood was pretty gross, even for me. However, it is interesting to see what an evil bastard Bill was pre-Sookie. Speaking of Sookie, she is now quite literally trapped in the belly of the Fellowship of the Sun. I can't remember from the book who was responsible for outing her but I really hope they are going to find big trouble when Bill finally gets to her. She's not the only one that's trapped though. Daphne has sold Sam down the river and now he too is stuck at the orgy from hell. And poor Lafayette. It was so sad to watch him cower in the corner while Andy screamed at him. But, it was good to see Pam. What is she up to with the V? Meanwhile, Jason is just digging himself a deeper hole over at FOTS and I for one can't wait to see when his conscience finally gets the better of him. Jessica had the best line of the week when the adorable Hoyt came to visit her in Dallas: “I’m so happy I could cry but I don’t wanna ’cause it’s really gross when I do!” Only 5 episodes left and they previewed what is to come at Comic-Con over the weekend. Warning: it will make waiting much more difficult.

New Show = Being Human:
BBC America premiered a new show over the weekend called Being Human about a ghost, a vampire and werewolf who share an apartment. What I loved most about it was that there wasn't a whole lot of warm up and unnecessary back story. The action started up almost immediately as did the humor. The dialogue was smart and funny and the 3 of them have great chemistry. Mitchell (the vamp) is super sexy, George (the wolf) is a real cutie, and Annie (the spook) is sweet and clever. I am looking forward to getting more back story over time and watching the trials of 3 monsters trying to live in the real world. This should be fun! In case you missed it, BBCA is showing the repeat at least a half a dozen times this week so check your local listings.

Bones, Bones, Bones:
Lots of new Bones info for you today, starting with EW naming Seeley Booth as one of the 15 smartest, sexiest crime fighters of 2009. He's number one on my list but you can see the other 14 here: http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20153312_20153315_20293622,00.html

Amazon.com has a list of the special features on the season 4 DVDs coming out in October: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001L1S1OY/ref=s9_simz_gw_s3_p74_t1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1YEQNN3G4MBMXG5Z0337&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846. A word of warning though; the first 4 episodes of the season will not be on the season 4 DVDs as they were a bonus for the season 3 DVDs.

David Boreanaz did not attend Comic-Con due to the impending birth of his 2nd child but he did have a taped message for fans that was absolutely adorable.

The other Bones highlight from Comic-Con was Michael Ausiello's interview with Emily Deschanel and creator Hart Hanson:

Centennial Sensation

SYTYCD Results - Happy 100th Episode!:
The opening number was amazing. A Chorus Line was one of my favorite movies growing up and watching that routine made me want to log on to Amazon and buy it immediately. The montage gave me chills quite a few times. It was nice to see for a 2nd time a lot of the moments I loved the first time around. Of course I could do without ever seeing that Sex person again, but the rest was awesome. It was great to see the Hummingbird dance again too. I saw it live on the tour that year but had forgotten how beautiful it was. And then there was Heidi and Travis' flower dance which is one of my top 3 of all time. Very powerful! Best moment of the night though? Getting to re-watch that group dance with Wade Robson and the SYTYCD alumni was phenomenal! To be honest, I'm not sure the current top 8 could have pulled it off nearly as well. The Katie Holmes piece was fun and I have to admit, Joey Potter has talent! Then it was down to business. At this point in the season, I'm beyond being shocked or upset. Everyone left is very talented and the choices just keep getting tougher. I will miss Janette though. Despite her terrible haircut, she was quite the firecracker. I had called Jason going home weeks ago so no big surprise there. Next week should be very interesting.

What I Am Crying About Missing at Comic-Con Today - v.2:
Today is my big day! The day I REALLY didn't want to miss so I'll be looking all weekend for photos and information. Joss and David in the same public forum and I can't be there. Grrr Argh!
The Big Bang Theory: Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar join with executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady for a special screening and Q&A.
Bones: Showrunner Hart Hanson and stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel discuss what's in store for Booth and Brennan.
Dollhouse: Creator Joss Whedon and star/producer Eliza Dushku participate in a Q&A about what's in store for Season 2. Post presentation, Whedon will provide info and answer questions about his upcoming Dark Horse Comics projects.

Hard-Hearted Hannah - True Blood new on Sunday!:
I can't believe we are already half way through the season. It'll be over before we know it and then I'll be sad - at least until my fall shows start up in mid-September. This week Sookie is heading into the belly of the beast a.k.a. The Fellowship of the Sun. I'm somewhat curious as to where she thinks Jason has been this whole time and whether or not she'll run into him during her undercover mission. I hope this part of the show is at least half as exciting as it was in the book. I couldn't put it down! On a side note, Happy Birthday to Ms. Sookie herself! Anna Paquin turns 27 today!

It Must Be Bunnies!
The Comic-Con event I am the very saddest about missing this year is the screening of the Buffy Musical, Once More With Feeling. I have seen this episode a dozen times but I can only imagine what it sounds like in a convention hall with hundreds of fans singing along. So, to make up for it, I will be blaring the soundtrack in my living room and singing along at the top of my lungs. Anyone in the area on Sunday is more than welcome to join me! In case you don't remember the words, you can find the lyrics here: http://www.soulwax.co.uk/buffy/OnceMoreWithFeeling.html#wttf

And The Winner Is!:
The dance most of you wanted to see again was Katee & Joshua's No Air routine. Enjoy!:

California Here We Come - I Wish

What I Am Crying About Missing at Comic-Con Today:
TV Guide.com has a great breakdown of all of this weekend's fun going on in San Diego which you can see here: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Comic-2009-Schedule-1008352.aspx
This list is just perfect for rubbing my face in all the geeky loveliness that I am missing. Here are my must sees for the day had you jerks sent your checks:
Dexter: Michael C. Hall, Julie Benz, Jennifer Carpenter, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Clyde Phillips, Melissa Rosenberg and executive producers hold a Q&A session and give a first look at clips from the new season.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon: Surprise members of the cast answer questions and debut never-before-seen footage from the second film in the series.
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: The California Browncoats host a screening of the original three acts, to be followed immediately by Commentary! The Musical.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a new list of what I am missing.

SYTYCD - Top 8:
What a roller coaster last night was. A really really slow starting roller coaster. Well, that's not entirely true. The opening number was great and I was super stoked to see Travis back behind the choreographer's wheel for the 2nd week in a row. And Ellen Degeneres was hysterical talking about the lights on the costumes. I could actually picture them all tripping over Christmas tree light cords. Could have done without Mary and Nigel's bickering there at the beginning. I wanted to slap them both on Ellen's behalf. I was with Nigel on Brandon and Jeanine's waltz though - it very nearly put me to sleep. And I had a nap. I usually roll my eyes at the Broadway numbers but Jason and Kayla were my favorite of the first half. I must say though, I didn't LOVE any of them. As for the 2nd half? I don't know jack about the rumba but Evan and Janette's dance felt like it was happening in slow motion..... under water. Yawn. And then POW! Brandon and Jeanine's hip hop was so fun. Finally something exciting to watch! Followed by that incredibly emotional contemporary routine from Melissa and Ade. The judges reactions had me in tears. It was very moving. I also loved Jason and Kayla's zombie hip hop. Between her solo and both of her partner dances, I was really impressed with Kayla last night. I think her and Jeanine are my favorites over all. I have no thoughts on the bottom dancers. We'll just have to see what happens tonight.

New Exciting Trailer!:
My undying love and devotion to Tivo causes me to miss most commercials (thank God) but I accidentally caught the new movie trailer for The Time Traveler's Wife today and I am now so excited to see it. I absolutely loved the book and really hope the movie doesn't disappoint. The casting looks to be spot on which is a huge relief since the characters are so complex. The movie is scheduled to be released August 14th.

Happy Birthday Harry!:
Daniel Radcliffe turns the big 2-0 today. And, other than the fantastic Harry Potter movies, the best thing he's ever done (in my opinion) was HBO's show Extras with Ricky Gervais. Absolutely hilarious. Enjoy for the birthday boy:

Happy Birthday Cordelia!:
The beautiful, former San Diego Charger cheerleader and Buffy and Angel cast member, Charisma Carpenter turns 39 today! And just to make all of us feel bad, that means she convincingly played a 23 year old at the age of 32. If only we were all so lucky. Check out one of my favorite Cordy moments below:

SYTYCD Xtra:
In honor of tonight's 100th episode I thought I'd do a quick poll of everyone's favorite dance over the last couple of years. Please check your fave at the top right and I'll post a video of the winner in tomorrow's blog. If your end all be all isn't on the list let me know!

New Releases

Who's Watching the Watchmen?:
The 2 disc director's cut of The Watchmen is out on DVD today. I saw this movie in the theater and was quite shocked at it's darkness and violence. About the only thing I knew about it before sitting down in front of the big screen was that it was based on a much loved graphic novel about a group of super heroes. To me, the characters aren't very hero like but that doesn't mean it's not worth seeing. It's actually a very interesting twist on the genre. The special features don't look like they're all that special but I'm curious to see what the extra 14 minutes is all about.

Twenties Girl: A Novel:
My favorite girlie author, Sophie Kinsella (The Shopaholic series) has a new book out today called Twenties Girl. Which is perfect since I'm not going to be one of those for very much longer. This one is about a normal twenty something girl who is haunted by her great aunt. As far as I know this is the first time Ms. Kinsella has come even close to writing about paranormal activities so this should be interesting. And, if it's anything like her previous works, it will also be hilarious!

Video Xtra:
Transformers is old news by now but during the whirlwind promotional tour I caught Megan Fox on Jimmy Kimmel Live and it was hilarious! One of the best things I've ever accidentally watched so I had to share (there are 2 parts):

I Wanna Do Bad Things to You

Never Let me Go - True Blood Recap:
Each episode just gets better and better. Last night was a perfect mix of sexy, scary, sweet and silly. It was great to get to see Eric's beginning and I bet as soon as we get a better look at Godric he'll prove himself to be quite tasty. Not to take anything away from Eric. He gets hotter every week. Totally digging the hair cut. That Maryanne has got to go though. I have had about enough of her special kind of evil. And was it just me or was she wearing Gran's dress while sitting at the kitchen table? That's just creepy. Bill and Sookie were so sweet to each other. While I could always use more face time from the 2, what we did get was very swoony. And Jason's storyline is cracking me up! I'm not sure if it's supposed to be as funny as I think it is but every time he's on screen I find myself laughing at him and the stupid situation he's gotten himself into. Weeks ago I called that he would be messing around with the heavily armed Preacher's wife but this exceeded my expectations. Hilarious! Tara had the best line of the night though. "F**k you very much!"

P.S. I recently purchased the True Blood soundtrack and if you can tolerate a little country music it's quite good. I'm waiting for a score of some kind though so we can get Bill and Sookie's theme song. Very well done.

Entertainment Weekly - Friday's Issue:
EW has a great issue on shelves this week. Not only is there a very good True Blood article (as well as great pics of the cast, especially Bill and Sookie), a glowing Half Blood Prince review and a sneak peak at the new Iron Man movie, we also get 8 pages of Comic-Con preview. Since I am not going to Comic-Con this year (did your check get lost in the mail?), EW is about as close as I'm going to get. The highlight of the preview is a first look at the Twilight graphic novel including drawings of Edward, Bella and Jacob. I'm not much of a comic reader but I may have to pick this one up. A release date has yet to be announced but I will keep you posted.

Happy Birthday Sweets!:
John Francis Daley who plays super shrink Lance Sweets on Bones turns 24 today (such a baby!). Check out the clip below from the Bones season finale of him performing his awesome song Neverending Summer with his real life band Dayplayer. The song is available in its entirety on iTunes.

Happy Birthday Dr. Yang!
The Emmy nominated Sandra Oh (a.k.a. Dr. Christina Yang from Grey's Anatomy) is also celebrating a birthday today. She is turning 38. Check out just one of her many great moments below:

It's the Freakin Weekend Baby!

On TV This Weekend:
The weekend starts with a busy late night tonight. Conan O'Brien has Buffy alum Seth Green, Jimmy Kimmel has a performance from Daughtry and Jimmy Fallon has True Blood beauty Anna Paquin. And Sunday night is all good with new episodes of both Merlin and True Blood. Set the Tivo and go out!

Eclipse Movie News:
Australian actor Xavier Samuel (see above) has been cast to play Victoria's lap dog, Riley, in the third Twilight movie, Eclipse which begins filming next month. Riley has a relatively small part in the book so the casting of an unknown actor really doesn't worry me too much. Eclipse is due to be in theaters June 20, 2010.

SYTYCD Recap:
Score one for me! I guessed right on for the girl going home. Take my point away! I was way off for the guys. I figured Kupono might be in the bottom 2 but really hoped he'd be spared. And I never in a million years would have put Ade in that position, thank god he was safe. Whew! The opening number was very exciting to watch but it wasn't my favorite of the season so far. And, I must add, after watching I'm even more miffed that Cat Deely did not earn an Emmy nomination. Ryan Seacrest? Puh-lease!

Happy Birthday Nate!:
Gossip Girl
hottie Chace Crawford (a.k.a. Nate Archibald) turns 24 tomorrow so I thought I should throw out some early happy birthday wishes. Oh to be at that party. Sigh.

Shame on you TNT:
Each morning I wake up looking forward to the Angel repeats on TNT. Especially lately as my DVD boxed set is out on loan. They usually do such a good job of running all of the episodes in succession and I have come to depend on that. However, the jerks have decided to skip right over my very favorite episode because of some golf tournament. Grrr Argh! Thank goodness for Hulu. Check out the clip from "I Will Remember You," below and go to Hulu.com to see the entire episode.

Sectum Sempra!

Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince:
I think I'm going to need to go see it again. Today. Too much, too fast. It was wonderfully done though. I think the film makers did a great job capturing the overall feeling of the 6th book with considerably more light humor than we've ever seen before and just the right amount of true terror laced in. SPOILER ALERT: Highlights for me included Ron's relationship with Lavender Brown and his accidental ingestion of the Love Potion meant for Harry. Absolutely hilarious! The ending with all of the students raising their wands in the air was new and very touching. I must admit I cried a bit at that. Harry and Ginny were also very sweet and I felt that the chemistry between the actors was just the right amounts of awkward and adorable. The scene in the cave with the Inferi was horrifying and I think I jumped about a mile into the air even though I knew what was coming. I do have a few complaints though. What's up with the Burrow burning down over Christmas? And how is Harry supposed to find the missing Diadem if he doesn't remember seeing it in the Room of Requirement? I've started re-reading the book already and I may have some more nits after I'm through but for now I'm quite comfortable with saying that I absolutely loved it.

SYTYCD:
Time for the Top 10! The ladies' opening Bollywood dance was so much fun. I could watch a routine like that every week, it was so explosive! The guys' African number at the end was good but not nearly as much fun. As for the couples: I think I have a new favorite choreographer. WOW! It was so good to see Travis Wall back on the show. He was my favorite when it was his turn to compete and the dance he put together for Jason and Jeanine was amazing. I have a new found respect for Jason as a performer and could watch that routine over and over again. I also loved Melissa and Brandon's Broadway routine. It had a real nice flow. Could have done without the smoke at the end though. As for my least favorite? I usually love the paso doble but Randi and Kupono's take was not nearly as exciting as it should have been. And Kayla and Evan's waltz just wasn't as memorable as the other routines. Ade had the best guy solo of the night (by a mile) and for the girls, I liked Jeanine the most. Who's going home? My best guess is former couple Randi and Evan. We'll see what happens!

2009 Emmy Nominations:
To see the full list of nominations go here: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20045108_20045123_20291534,00.html
No big surprise that most of my favorite shows have been completely shut out (True Blood, Bones, Gossip Girl), but there is some hope. Dexter should no doubt win every category in which it's nominated and I am really pushing for a win for Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory. He is without question, one of the funniest men on TV. Tune in to CBS on September 20th to see who takes home the gold.

On TV Tonight:
It's Thursday night and that means Fox! The season 4 Bones repeat is The Bones that Foam which was directed by David Boreanaz himself and then of course the So You Think You Can Dance results show. Also, on tonight, Daughtry performs on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

BFF = Greatness

New Book, Yay!!:
One of my favorite authors has a new book out today. Jennifer Weiner has written some of the most lasting impressions I will ever experience as a reader. Most will know her work from the movie In Her Shoes, staring Cameron Diaz and my favorite, Toni Collette. The other high point for me was Good in Bed and the follow up, Certain Girls. This woman knows women. I am very much looking forward to her point of view on friends in her latest Best Friends Forever. Her insight on sisters and women in general has been right on in the past so I trust her judgement. I hope you will too. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

It's Potter Time: I do not get to see HBP at midnight tonight. I'm wicked jealous of everyone who does. I have been waiting for this movie for more than a year. And I'm a reader. I KNOW these books forwards and backwards and forwards again. I'm dying to see how the movie lives up. So - spoilers are not welcome here - not just yet. I will have my full review Thursday morning. All Hail King Potter!

On TV Tomorrow:
Ellen Degeneres has a GREAT repeat tomorrow with Robert Pattinson. If you did not catch this the first time around last fall I highly recommend watching it now. If you do not have Tivo or any patience to wait for it to re-air tomorrow, you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3bOSCvrIUQ

Stuck in My Head #1:
I have a couple of friends who happen to think I have good taste in music. I think they are silly and I like what I like but since it's a slow news day you get to hear what's stuck in my head. Due to a recent personal loss my music choices are a bit melancholy but amazing in their meaning. Great music either way. Enjoy!:

Stuck Song #2:
This song is also great. A good tune to keep in mind any time things seem to be getting the better of you. Feel good about the way you need to deal with it.

Bloody Monday

True Blood Recap:
Last night's episode definitely had some of the funniest lines I've heard yet. Whatever Jessica glamoured that limo driver into shouting was hilarious. She is really starting to grow on me. And Bill telling Eric he didn't want to drink the blood but just wanted Eric to pay for it was also pretty funny. Lafayette's dancing post V? So awesome. Jason's fantasy about the preacher's wife totally took me back to a great moment in O.C. history when Ryan was daydreaming about Taylor. Very funny. A few complaints though. First off, what is up with Tara allowing that rager in Gran's house? Seems very uncharacteristic and wicked rude. I am liking that Maryanne character less and less each week. She has got to go. Also, not nearly enough Sookie time. Maybe I'm just used to the books where it's all Sookie, all the time. Hopefully we'll get some more next week.

Dollhouse Extra:
In case you didn't already have enough reasons to purchase Dollhouse Season 1 on DVD, here's another. There will be a 13th episode included that will never be aired by Fox (are they Joss haters or what?). Joss himself describes the episode as "...a little bit insane," but I am counting down to the July 28th release date either way. The episode will also be shown in 2 weeks at Comic-Con. I still haven't received your sponsorship checks. Please get them in the mail ASAP.

More Blood:
A new movie opened over the weekend that I am dying to see. Unfortunately it's not playing anywhere near me - yet. Blood: The Last Vampire looks like a mix between Buffy and Kill Bill, two of my favorite things. See the trailer here. Can't wait until it opens closer to home!

New Music:
Daughtry's new album, Leave This Town, comes out tomorrow and I'm looking forward to hearing it but, what I liked best was this version of Poker Face he did on a German radio station. Very cool. Enjoy:

TGIF = TGI almost Sunday

True Blood is Back!:
Talk about a long 2 weeks. True Blood is back on Sunday night and our favorite couple (and their annoying teen vamp sidekick) are finally heading to Dallas which is where most of the 2nd book takes place. It looks like we'll get to check up on Lafayette as well to see how he's coping post dungeon. Can't wait!!

Geek Fest 2009:
Anyone want to sponsor my trip to Comic-Con in 2 weeks? I promise to take lots of photos and very good notes. They have just released the panels for the first day and The New Moon peeps will be making a highly anticipated appearance. I really just want to go and ogle the hot guys from Fringe, True Blood, Vampire Diaries and most importantly, Bones. You know who to make the checks out to.

On TV Tomorrow:
TNT is repeating the Angel series finale tomorrow morning and I could watch it over and over again. Especially the part where he beats the crap out of Hamilton! It comes on pretty early though so set the Tivo and enjoy it after you've woken up at an acceptable weekend time. Don't forget the tissues!

SYTYCD Recap:
And the top 10 have been revealed. I loved the group number again last night. This has been the best year yet as far as that goes. The bottom 3 couples were not a huge shock to me this week and I was ecstatic that Kayla and Kupono were safe after having my favorite dance the 2nd week in a row. I do however think that Jeanine and Phillip had a real unfair disadvantage with that absurd Russian folk dance the other night. Um, and Ade's solo? Wow to the tenth power. The best of the night by far. I was not at all surprised to see Caitlin go but Phillip's departure was a bit of a disappointment. I would have rather seen Jason walk. Oh well. New couples next week. Can't wait to see who gets who!! Check out Kayla and Kupono's amazing vamp dance from last week and have a great weekend!

The Countdown Begins

ONLY ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL HARRY!!!!
As you can see, I've added the countdown widget to my page for those who are just as crazy excited as I am. Early reviews are calling HPB the best one yet and all I can say about that is DUH!!!

On TV Tonight:
The top 6 couples are battling it out tonight on SYTYCD to find out who gets to be in the top ten and go on tour. I'm just hoping it's half as good as the show they put on last week. They have a lot to live up to! And, on The Late Show with David Letterman, the Harry Potter promotional tour begins with the beautiful Emma Watson (Hermione Granger).

Public Address:
This blog is new to me but, I am very proud of the fact that I am not a gossip. I don’t believe in it and I never will. However, I do believe in entertainment. And last week, the world lost a true entertainment master. I was quite literally raised on Michael Jackson’s music. Thriller (on vinyl) was the very first piece of music I ever owned. The only thing I required on my first real vacation in 1988 was my Bad cassette. In 2006 my friend Eva and I spent 5 exhausting hours learning the Thriller dance from beginning to end just for the love of it. Grieving for a loved one is a private experience for me. I think throwing oneself into traffic over someone you have never even met is just stupid. There is actually little I would rather do less than stand in line for hours to view a dead body. And, any kind of “milking” of death should be outlawed. Regardless of the circus over the last few days, I will say this: Thriller on my iPod will have no more or less effect than it ever did on my original vinyl. Greatness transcends. I think people should remember and take comfort in that.

Back to Business

I hope everyone had a good Holiday weekend filled with too much food and too much booze. I know I did. And, now that I have recovered, I want to start the week off by sending great big get well wishes to Rupert Grint (a.k.a. Ronald Weasley) who has contracted the Swine Flu. Terrible timing as he is bound to be getting ready for a worldwide Half Blood Prince promotional tour. Feel better soon Won Won!!!!

Release of Note:
The Summit Entertainment movie, Push, is out on DVD today. I saw this in the theater when it was released this last spring and I got a whole lot more movie than I was hoping for. It was a total edge of your seat, what f*** just happened, adrenaline junkie, action thrill ride. A must purchase for any comic book movie fan. It also doesn't hurt that star Chris Evans (Fantastic Four) is a total hottie.

It's About Time:
Amazon finally has a release date set for Bones, Season 4 on DVD. The bad news? It's not out until October 6th, almost a month after Season 5 begins on Fox (September 17th). All I can say about this is thank God for TNT.

July 7th Birthdays:
Happy birthday to star forward and leader of my Colorado Avalanche hockey team, Joe Sakic. He turns 40 today. Also having a birthday today is Robia LaMorte (a.k.a. Ms. Jenny Calendar). She is 39 today. Check out Ms. Calendar below. Happy Birthday Jenny!!

There Will Be No Blood

As there is absolutely nothing going on over the next 3 days (which means that True Blood is taking a week off) I thought I might share some of my faves in case anyone gets bored. After a little bit of business of course. Not everyone has a holiday today.

On TV Last Night:
SYTYCD Results: For starters - what a great yet subtle tribute to the late, great Michael Jackson. Regardless of what happened with him in recent years, he was my very first crush and the very first piece of music I ever owned (I got Thriller on vinyl for my 5th birthday). Honestly though, I could watch a whole hour of these group numbers - very entertaining. On a side note, was it just me, or were they blurring the crotch of one of the costumes? Couldn't tell who it was but she looked blurry compared to everyone else. Maybe I just had one too many glasses of wine. And then, WTF, WTF, WTF!!!!!!! How did Kayla and Kupono end up in the bottom 3? Can someone please explain this to me? I digress. I loved all of the girls' solos (mostly Jeanine's - WOW)but the only guys' solo I really liked was Phillip's. I was not surprised to see Karla and Vitolio go home. Thank God Kayla and Kupono are safe. Now I don't have to stake myself.
P.S. I love Kelly Clarkson

Anyone else catch Megan Fox on Jimmy Kimmel Live? I think I am madly in love with her. She is absolutely hysterical (ok she's also kinda pretty). I suppose I always assumed she was a dumb bimbo but the more I see of her on this Transformers promotional tour, the more I love love love her. Think she'd go out with me?

Now for the fun Friday nonsense:

Best T-Shirts = Affliction:
I have already spent more money with this company than I care to admit. The shirts are even better looking in person than they are on the website. Oh, and really hot guys already have one or 2 (for example, see 2 vampires below). The shirts are well worth the money and you can buy them here:http://www.afflictionclothingstore.com/store/

Best Laughs = Fail:
I think most people already know about this site but those who don't need to be educated. On my very worst day this site still has something that cracks me up. People are so dumb it's scary. Or, more importantly, very, very funny.
http://failblog.org/

Best TV Trivia = TV.com:
Want to know what song you heard on your favorite show? Want to re-read your favorite quotes? Want to find out who couldn't keep a straight face during filming? This website is a must visit for me especially while watching shows on DVD. Everything you ever wanted to know and never though to ask. Especially helpful when looking for music from specific episodes. TV junkies go to heaven here.

Best Overall Shopping = PlasticLand:
Almost everything I desire can be found on Amazon.com but for the things that I really want but never new it, I trust PlasticLand. Birdie just introduced me to this site 3 weeks ago and I already have a wish list a billion dollars long. The below frame is currently making a home on my bedroom wall and it makes me very happy. I promise that you will find things you want to design an entire house and/or wardrobe around. Don't even get me started on the shoes.

Best Fan Video = Love Story:
I have seen at least 100 fan videos of some of my favorite things. Some are quite good. Most are crap. I had never seen anything that inspired me to watch over and over and over .... until I saw this one. I don't even like country music. However, the high quality of the video and the way the pictures are timed to the lyrics here just keep me coming back for more. And more. And then a little more. Ok, just once more.

Have a good 4th everyone!

Eyes on Fire - Finally!

SYTYCD:
So, is it just me or could that entire show have fit into one hour? Anyways, onto my notes:

Janette & Brandon:
Ok, I hate her hair when it’s not done up for the dancing. Had to get that off my chest. Their dance was so hot and a lot more exciting than I expected it to be. The ballroom has been much better this year by far.
Kayla & Kupono:
OMG TWILIGHT MUSIC!! Back on earth, I finally got a dance I wanted to rewind. Even without the music it was my favorite of the night. I thought the dancing was really powerful. And a very nice vampire shout out!
Randi & Evan:
I thought this was really cute but a bit boring compared to the 2 that came before it. They did seem really in sync though.
Caitlin & Jason:
This dance was really strange but wicked fun. I actually think I liked it. Of course Nigel had to go and be creepy again and ruin some of the fun.
Jeanine & Phillip:
I was with Mia on this one. It was really awesome but I think the chain hurt more than it helped. It made me a bit nervous. Totally amazing overall though. My 2nd favorite of the night.
Melissa & Ade:
I really loved getting to watch her do her ballet thing. And in my totally uneducated opinion I though Ade held his own pretty well. The whole dance was really beautiful.
Karla & Vitolio:
This is not my favorite dance but that isn’t their fault. They seemed a bit stiff to me but maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. Their feet seemed to me moving together either way which looked cool. Mostly fun overall.

It was such a great night that I'm not going to pick anyone to go into the bottom. The judges were pretty nice to everyone so we'll just have to see what happens!

Gossip Girl News:
It looks like Hilary Duff will be guest starring on GG this fall and I think there are a few fans not very happy about this. Personally, I loved Lizzie McGuire and think this could be a lot of fun. Apparently she is supposed to play Vanessa's NYU roommate and I can already see the clashing possibilities!

On TV Tonight:
Of course we have the SYTYCD Top 14 results show tonight and Kayla & Kupono better be safe! Also, another season 4 Bones repeat (2 nights in a row and it's not even my birthday) where we get to see Booth on hockey skates (Fire in the Ice). My favorite comedian, Jim Gaffigan (My Boys), will be on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien and I am really hoping he does some stand-up. Hot Pocket anyone?

Happy Birthday Michelle!:
Today is Michelle Branch's 26th birthday so I've decided to pay a little tribute with a video of her performing a beautiful acoustic version of Goodbye To You on Buffy The Vampire Slayer back in 2001 (she was only 18!!!).

A Full New Moon

New Moon Posters:
Every time I see a new poster for this movie I have a new favorite. The advertisers are really pulling out all their best for this one, though I'm not sure why. I know for a fact that there are about a million countdowns going on all over the place and November is far into the future. Either way, I'm more than happy to stare at them for the next 5 months.

Hot Vamp Poll:
So I decided to give my favorite Fangbangers the chance to pick their favorite vampires and overall it has been a lot of fun. However, we ran into a tie. Though they are not in the top 5 it is important to place them accordingly. The tie is between Louis de Pointe du Lac (played by Brad Pitt) and Michael Corvin (played by Scott Speedman). We would love help deciding so please vote on the top right of the page so we can settle this once and for all.

New Moon Movie Companion:
Good news for fans of the Twilight Movie Companion book - plans are well underway for a similar book for New Moon. Amazon has gone so far as to start taking pre-orders here:http://www.amazon.com/New-Moon-Official-Illustrated-Companion/dp/0316075809/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1246434802&sr=1-1. They have set the release date as October 6, 2009 and I for one have another countdown to add to the growing list.

On TV Tonight:
The top 7 couples compete tonight on So You Think You Can Dance and I'm excited to see Karla and Vitolio dance together for the first time. TNT has another great season 4 Bones repeat (The Con Man in the Meth Lab). By the time they finally release the DVDs I'm going to have the entire season in my Tivo. And, on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Shia LaBeouf continues to promote Transformers.

Good News for Diet Coke Junkies:
I just saw an advertisement for a dream come true! Diet Coke now comes in a caffeine free version! This means I no longer have to cut myself off at 3PM to avoid being awake all night long. It's about time! http://www.dietcoke.com/about-diet-coke/our-products/caffeine-free.jsp
